| Clip from the article: THE EVENT: From 123 Rue Saint-Martin, Paris, France, comes the North American premiere of "Liquidation" featuring two talented artists, Blazo Kovacevic and Natalija Mijatovic. THE MEANING OF IT ALL: Kovacevic's work reflects the more common meaning of the word--merchandise. Mijatovic's work emphasizes another meaning--execution and destruction, "ethnic cleansing." |

| The word liquidation and how the artists apply it to the recent war in Yugoslavia is the prevalent theme of the exhibition. The subject matter; though disturbing, is executed passionately through art by Kovacevic and Mijatovic. Their combined talents and interpretations make up the exhibition.
Using found objects, disks of metal, and twisted equipment, along with ink, acrylic and pencil, Kovacevic interprets the definition of "liquidation through common selling." His entire collection intentionally reflects the activities in Yugoslavia, the depreciation of heritage, the selling of an entire society. Kovacevic calls this the "negative side effects of globalization." His art is not displayed prominently as one would typically visualize in a gallery setting. Instead, his works are shown hanging on a clothing rack, on hangers, complete with sales tags dangling from the corners. Some are even price slashed, as if in liquidation. Just as the title explains, each piece in the exhibit is "for sale." |
